LIMINAL FIELDS
Black, light and perception
Ingress
Ingress is a painting by Nick Jakho and part of the Liminal Fields series. Built up through numerous layers of acrylic on canvas, the work is defined by a cool, near-black surface that changes with its surroundings. In low light, it appears almost entirely monochrome. As the light increases, horizontal transitions, subtle traces and variations in depth gradually become visible.
The image reveals itself slowly, shifting between darkness, depth and an almost translucent sense of space. Its layered surface allows new details and associations to emerge with each viewing.
